Once the studies are completed, Kevin Castaño is preparing to sign his contract with Club Atlético River Plate. Although River had until March 12 to finalize the operation, Marcelo Gallardo decided to expedite the process with the aim of having Castaño in his team as soon as possible. The player's father even took to social media to confirm that Kevin did everything possible to join the 'Millonario'.
Castaño's signing makes River one of the prominent players in the transfer market, joining renowned reinforcements to face the Copa de la Liga, the Copa Libertadores, and the Club World Cup in the United States. The Colombian joins Enzo Pérez, Gonzalo Montiel, Lucas Martínez Quarta, Giuliano Galoppo, Matías Rojas, Gonzalo Tapia, and Sebastián Driussi, who had already secured a place in River's squad.
Castaño, with 21 matches played in the current season, contributing one goal and four assists between the Russian Premier League and the Russian Cup, arrives to strengthen River's midfield amid uncertainty over Rodrigo Villagra's future and injuries to some veteran players. He will have to compete for a spot in the starting eleven with key players like Enzo Pérez, Matías Kranevitter, and Rodrigo Aliendro.
After some last-minute doubts due to the player's participation in a friendly with Krasnodar against Dynamo Moscow, Kevin Castaño finally secured his move to River Plate. The operation was closed for an amount of 9 million dollars for 100% of the player's rights, prior agreement with both Krasnodar, owner of 70%, and Cruz Azul, holder of the remaining 30%.
With a contract that will last until the end of 2029, Castaño is expected to travel shortly to Buenos Aires to undergo routine medical exams before joining his new teammates in Marcelo Gallardo's team.
